ENROLMENT POLICY

The issue of student intake is one the school has dealt with for some years. The regional office has set an enrolment ceiling figure of 525 students. The expectation is that the school will manage the intake to this figure. The school can, if space does not permit, deny enrolment to students where Ivanhoe Primary School is not the student’s designated neighbourhood school. The designated neighbourhood school is defined as the primary school which is nearest to the student’s permanent residential address (defined as: straight line distance) unless otherwise determined by the Regional Director.


Enrolments from outside the catchment area

Accepting enrolments from outside the area has, to date, been based on class sizes. An enrolment waiting list system is implemented to ensure students residing in the school’s catchment area are accommodated before any decision is made on the waiting list enrolments.

Prep Entry:

When considering whether to accept a prep enrolment from outside the area the following priorities are adhered to:

  • Siblings already enrolled
  • Special case eg. child minding offered by extended family that have a child enrolled at the school
  • Work location for parents
  • Other
