ASISTM – Australian Schools Innovation in Science, Technology and Mathematics
Ivanhoe Primary School is fortunate to be part of this Federal Government initiative. The ASISTM Project aims to bring about real and permanent improvements to the ways in which science, technology and mathematics are taught in schools. Project activities will enable students to come together with industry, science organisations, universities and others to explore ways to encourage a culture of innovation, attract greater numbers of students into science and mathematical based subjects, improve coordination between primary and secondary school curricula and provide positive role models for students.
This project aims to improve the teaching and learning of science and technology for staff and students. Sequential units of work from Prep to Year 6 are being developed and trialled with a particular focus on Systems Technology. Our goal is for these units of work to become embedded in the school’s curriculum plan.
